Signs of Innocence (Soul of the Sinner - Book 4) Page 9
When Alex walks in he looks between us and shakes his head. “Does anyone want to explain what’s going on in here?”
Thomas smiles and walks over to pull me against him announcing that we are getting married.
Alex and Oliver look between each other with smug looks as Thomas narrows his eyes at them.
“Why are you two looking at each other like that?” his left eyebrow rose a fraction
Oliver chuckles and shakes his head advising they had a private joke and walks out of the warehouse. Alex smirks and walks over to me and welcomes me to the family.
I tilt my head as I watch Alex walk out of the warehouse and turn towards Thomas whose jaw is clenched and his eyes slightly narrowed.
“What just happened here?” I ask
“I think we just followed Alex’s plan perfectly.” He exchanged a smile with me, then shook his head
I was brought to this warehouse not knowing how I would be executed. I am walking out hand in hand with the man that will soon become my husband, my own Prince Charming.
Thomas
It’s been one month since Hannah and I walked out of the warehouse…engaged. I never would have thought that when she walked into that damn alley, my life would have changed for the better. I have been told that everything happens for a reason. There are no such things as coincidences. I am close to believing that shit is true. I guess good things can happen even to a man like me. I am a hitman, a sinner but Hannah’s goodness has reached the darkness of my soul. Maybe everyone has a little goodness in them?
Since getting engaged Hannah has met my parents, who adore her. I almost think they love her more than they love me. Hannah has mentioned that they are the parents that she never had. I think Hannah and my mother have lunch together at least twice a week. Hannah does have time for these lunches, since she doesn’t have to work now. I had to battle with her, but eventually I convinced her that I had more than enough money to support us. She agreed to not look for a job until after were married. Little does she know I plan on having her knocked up soon and she’ll still have to put off the job search.
Hannah’s mom is currently in an out of state rehab. I personally moved her there and had her send Hannah a very polite, loving note advising that she was getting help. She will be taken care of as long as she stays clean. I would rather handle her in a different way, but she is Hannah’s mother.
Every case that involved my name or Hannah’s was closed. We were no longer under any suspicion for shit. The last I heard Detective Howard was transferred to Kentucky. The mob has connections in all places and thankfully we use all assets.
As far as the mob… Hannah has become one of the family. The women in the family has been helping Hannah plan the wedding and they even have these girl night outs, which I don’t agree with. However, if Frank and Alex Deluca can handle it, so can I.
Speaking of Alex Deluca shortly after the warehouse stunt we had a conversation. Alex admitted that he suspected that if Hannah and I were put in the same room, everything would work out as planned. He knew that when faced with life and death people get their shit together. I guess this would be the one-time Alex Deluca used his common sense.
I am still the hitman man for the mob. I don’t think my career will ever change. I love my job. I protect the Deluca’s and I am damn good at it. I had one slip up that brought me the love of my fucking life.
